Recognition

This course meets the minimum requirements for first aid compliance across a number of industries.

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) and Safe Work Australia recognise your Provide First Aid and Provide Basic Emergency Life Support Training as valid for 3 years. Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training is valid for 12 months and must be updated annually to be kept current.

Entry requirements

In order to complete first aid training, you must:

  • Be at least 14 years of age; AND
  • Be able to use literacy and numeracy skills to read, interpret and apply guidelines and protocols; AND
  • Be physically fit enough to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted single rescuer CPR on a firm surface on the floor

What you’ll learn

In this course you will learn to:

  • Manage conscious or unconscious patients
  • Perform CPR on adults and babies
  • Follow DRSABCD protocol and use defibrillator
  • Use an Epipen
  • Manage fractures, dislocations and soft tissue injuries
  • Manage seizures and convulsions
  • Manage snake bites, burns, hypothermia and heat stroke
  • Monitor condition of the victim
  • Follow procedures to record first aid and communicate techniques applied
